Nika Baric is key to the summer aspirations of Slovenia

Slovenia have laid out their plans for the summer as they prepare to compete in the all-important EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd Qualification Round.

They will face Luxembourg, Poland and Slovak Republic in Group A and have revealed a 24-strong preliminary candidate list which will be whittled down to 15 names ahead of a training camp to be held during early May in Kranjska Gora.

Head coach Tomo Oresnik will be without three players in Katarina Ristic, Tjasa Gortnar and Lea Jagodic, who are all ruled out through injury, but some key figures are included.

Their challenge is likely to be spearheaded by EuroLeague Women playmaker Nika Baric of Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje, and she will be lining up alongside WBC Novi Zagreb shooter Eva Komplet.

Maja Erkic will offer more firepower from the backcourt and has a wealth of elite level experience having played at the Final Eight in 2012 with Famila Schio.

Martina Dover has played in EuroCup Women this season with TSV Wasserburg and CCC Polkowice guard Teja Oblak is a very talented option too.

The frontcourt will contain veteran center Sandra Pirsic and Tina Trebec who were the two top scorers in their last qualification campaign.

Eva Lisec meanwhile is one of the most exciting prospects around, with the teenager having posted a very impressive tournament double-double at the U18 European Championship Women last year in Croatia.

The team will play a total of six preparation games, with two on home soil against Portugal, followed by Belgium and Montenegro.

They will then complete their schedule with successive games against Finland, prior to getting their formal qualification programme underway.

The full roster is as follows: Rebeka Abramovič (Athlete Celje), Nika Barič (Sparta&K), Helena Boada (Athlete Celje), Martina Dover (TSV Wasserburg), Maja Erkić (unattached), Nina Gabrovšek (Grosuplje), Alina Gjerkeš (Fordham University), Tina Jakovina (Triglav), Eva Lisec (Athlete Celje), Ana Ljubenović (Cagliari Virtus), Anita Kastelic (Grosuplje), Anja Klavžar (Grosuplje), Eva Komplet (Novi Zagreb), Katja Kotnik (Atomeromu Szekszard), Sara Meden (Triglav), Teja Oblak (CCC Polkowice), Martina Osterman (Athlete Celje), Sandra Piršič (CD Zamarat), Eva Rupnik (Triglav), Tina Trebec (Nortland Basket), Polona Zalar (Triglav), Klara Zupančič (Grosuplje), Živa Zdolšek (Triglav).
