Evgenia Belyakova is the latest big signing for UMMC Ekaterinburg who are looking to build a new team around Russian talent

Russia national team leader Evgenia Belyakova has become the latest domestic star to make a switch to UMMC Ekaterinburg.

Following hot on the heels of Natalia Vieru making the move eastwards from Nadezhda, the starting point for the transformation of the UMMC roster appears to be a strengthening of their Russian core.

Belyakova certainly helps to achieve that aim and brings extensive experience from both the Russian Premier League and EuroLeague Women.

The 28-year-old, who is expected to once again be a cornerstone for Russia at the EuroBasket Women Final Round, showcased her perimeter skills when at Dynamo Kursk last season.

Her incredible 58.1% shooting from downtown in EuroLeague Women helped the rookies reach their maiden Final Four at the first time of asking.

Belyakova played 19 minutes per game for Kursk and is likely to prove a key loss for one of UMMC's primary challengers - as will be the case with Vieru leaving Nadezhda.

She has previously stepped out in the competition with Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje and Baltiyskaya Zwezda, having also featured in EuroCup Women with Chevakata.
