GAME REPORT

ZVVZ USK Prague End Sparta&K Run

7. Jelena Dubljevic (ZVVZ USK Prague)
Jelena Dubljevic was the lynchpin in Prague's second-straight victory, picking up seven boards to accompany 14 points

Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje had their 15 game winning streak on home soil ended by ZVVZ USK Prague who secured a 57-47 victory to remain unbeaten in EuroLeague Women Group C.

A poor start and equally disappointing finish killed off the hosts' chances as Prague head coach Natalia Hejkova grabbed a win at the club where she once lifted back-to-back EuroLeague Women titles.

The visitors enjoyed a vibrant start, racing into a 15-4 lead with nine early points from Sparta&K turnovers.

With Montengrin forward Jelena Dubljevic looking ominously dangerous, Prague retained control and that trend continued.

The home team was focusing almost exclusively on getting ball inside and when they finally looked after the ball better, they were able to cut the deficit to single digits at 30-21 by half-time.

Still trailing 39-30 during the third quarter, the young Sparta&K side made their move.

Some nice play by rising star Julia Gladkova helped them finish the period with a flourish by scoring seven points in a row, as Nika Baric tied the game from the free-throw line.

However, led by Dubljevic who finished with 14 points and seven boards, the visitors exploded once again to canter to victory in a dominant final 10 minutes.

Nika Baric and Asjha Jones both had 12 points for the losing team.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes: Sparta&K MR Vidnoje vs. ZVVZ USK Prague

ZVVZ USK Prague Head Coach Natalia Hejkova
"I am very happy to win once more in Vidnoje even though this time it was on the bench of the team opposing Sparta&K. I am very happy for my team's performance and especially about how well my players played defence. It was a good game mainly because till the end Sparta&K was fighting and not giving up."

Prague Player Laia Palau
"Defence was what brought us to this very important win. I am very proud of my teammates because they played hard and with maturity. We knew that we had to stop Sparta&K's offence which just a few days ago won easily against Orenburg, another Euroleague team. It is a great win but we have to continue playing this kind of defence in order to reach our targets."

Sparta&K Head Coach Alex Vasin

"We are a young team and psychology plays a very important factor. It was bad that in the first minutes we started down in the game by almost 10 points but my players showed fighting spirit to come back twice. Actually the second time was when they finished the third quarter tied even though they were down by 16 earlier in that quarter. But Prague's experience helped them win this game. It is still early and we aim to do well in the future."

Sparta&K Player Asjha Jones
"Unfortunately today it was an uphill battle from the first minute and while with my teammates we twice tied the game, our lack of experience in combination with a strong Prague team did not allow us to win this first EuroLeague game at home. We have to stay positive and continue working hard and then we can surely do much better in the future."
