GAME REPORT

Payback Joy For Wisla-Can Pack At Rivas

22. Alexandria Quigley (Wisla Can-Pack)
Alexandria Quigley paced Wisla Can-Pack with her 26 points

Wisla-Can Pack eased the agony of their earlier buzzer-beating loss to Rivas Ecopolis in EuroLeague Women Group B after Allie Quigley and Jantel Lavender combined to hand their team an eye-catching 76-62 win in Spain.

Rivas coach Jose Hernandez coached Wisla for four seasons, but was unable to mastermind a double against his former team, with his players unable to contain Quigley and Lavender.

Both posted outstanding 12 of 19 shooting performances to help their side preserve their unbeaten record on the road and jump up to second place in the standings

Quigley finished with a season high individual haul of 26 points and Lavender claimed her fifth double-double by harvesting 25 points and 14 rebounds.

Having trailed 25-22 early in the second quarter, Wisla suddenly changed the entire reflection of the game with a devastating spell as they outscored the hosts 19-3 to soar into the ascendancy.

They never looked back, managing to keep Rivas at arms' length throughout the second half, the closest the home team managing to get being when they reduced the deficit to 53-48 in the third period.

Rachel Allison led Rivas with 16 points but couldn't prevent the Liga Femenina side from slipping to a third straight loss.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Rivas Ecopolis vs. Wisla Can-Pack

Rivas Ecópolis head coach José Ignacio Hernández
"We competed good as long as we had our best five players on the floor, but as slim as our rotation is we suffered when we had to go small, specially after having Nicholls committing her second foul early on. Their big players were important and grabbed a lot of offensive rebounds in the second half."

Rivas Ecópolis guard Queralt Casas
"We played against a superior team, both individually and roster-wise. We were able to compete at the beginning of the game, they built a good lead in the second quarter but we were able to come back to just five points behind. But we missed a longer rotation and felt tired by the last minutes, when they clinched the victory."

Wisla Can-Pack head coach Stefan Svitek
"I'm happy for this victory, we did remember how we lost in the first leg of the tournament so we came to Rivas very focused. We outrebounded them and, although two players scored 51 points I think this was a team effort. We didn't have a great start but then we played better in the second quarter. Rivas came close in the second half, but we came back to our best game and controlled it until the end."

Wisla Can-Pack guard Alexandria Quigley
"It was a hard fought game, we played good in transition, we controlled the tempo of the game, playing fast which is how we like it. When we can play our style we feel better. We fixed some things after a rough start to get better and win the game."
