|Frida Eldebrink did what sshe does best: put the ball in the basket, giving Rivas the win|
Rivas Ecopolis coach Jose Hernandez enjoyed a winning return to Wisla Can-Pack as he drew up the perfect play for Frida Eldebrink to hit the game-winner in a 62-60 success in EuroLeague Women Group B on Wednesday.
Eldebrink finished with 18 points and was also instrumental in the 15-0 Rivas run that stretched from the third into the fourth quarter and gave them the chance of victory late on.
The Swedish international hit six straight points during that sequence to steady the visitors after they trailed by as many as 11 early in the second half.
Wisla had started well behind the sharp shooting of guard Alexandria Quigley, who finished with 12 points, and were up 34-23 at half-time.
The hosts' control continued into the second half as Jantel Lavender began to find her range but Rivas' big run changed all that.
Lavender did come up big in the fourth quarter, scoring six of her game-high 19 points - including a couple of clutch free throws, but there was still time for Eldebrink to edge it for Rivas.
"First of all I would like to thank everybody who welcomed me in Cracow, for me it is a very special day. Thank you for everybody from Wisła. The game was very difficult for us because Wisła started the game playing fantastic. After the first part of the game we started playing better, we "caught" some points and finally we won against Wisla Can-Pack."
Wisla head coach Stefan Svitek
"At the begining, congratulations to Rivas who played today very good basketball. Committing 20 tournovers you cannot win the game. We started Euroleague Women very bad but it's a begining, we have a lot of games more and I believe that we can play better."
Rivas guard Clara Bermejo Moreno
"We knew that it would be a hard game, and it was hard. In the second part of the game we played better, we didn't make so many mistakes as in the first. I am verry happy that we won this game."
Wisla forward Justyna Zurowska
"I was very happy when I saw before the game so many fans in our arena, we wanted to win the game just for them. We had a chance to win this game but at the end we made too many mistakes."
