Wisla Can-Pack made easy work of their home clash with BK IMOS Brno on Wednesday night as they led from start to finish and claimed a 79-58 win in EuroLeague Women Group B action.
There was one-way traffic in the opening quarter, as the Polish hosts forced Brno to commit one turnover after the other and picked up easy baskets in the open court.
Wisla led 18-5 at the first buzzer, on a night that they would eventually steal 19 balls and score 26 points off their Czech side's 23 turnovers.
Barbora Kaspárková scored five points to instigate an 8-0 Brno run that reduced the gap to 22-17 midway through the second period, but this was as close as the visitors would come.
Jantel Lavender poured in eight points in quick succession as Wisla went on a 9-0 run of their own to restore a 14-point lead, 31-17, with 4:47 remaining in the first half, and the hosts never allowed the gap to drop to single-digit levels again.
Wisla led 39-25 at the half-time break and extended their advantage to as many as 24 points, 69-45, midway through the third quarter.
Lavender was once again inspirational for the winners and finished with a game-high 26 points, adding five rebounds, while Alexandria Quigley chipped in with 10 points and five assists.
For Brno, Anna Jurcenkova collected a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds and Tereza Pecková had 14 points and eight boards in a losing effort.
BK IMOS Brno Assistant Coach Milan Veverka
"Congratulations to the home team. We came here with some personal problems. Wisla started very good the first quarter. We had too many turnovers and gave a lot of possibilities for Wisla to make fast breaks and score easy points. We wish Wisla all the best in the ELW and domestic games."
Wisla Can-Pack Head Coach Stefan Svitek
"We are very happy winning the first ELW game at home. I am very happy that all my players had a chance to be on the court. The bench players scored 22 points. Now it is time to think about the next games and to work hard to be well prepared to get the positive results."
BK IMOS Brno Player Anna Jurcenkova
"Congratulations to the Krakow Team. They played a very good game - especially in the first quarter. In the first quarter we only scored five points. In the next quarters Wisla just controlled the game and the result."
Wisla Can-Pack Player Agnieszka Skobel
"I am happy we won the game - it was very important because it was the first ELW win in Krakow. I am thankful I had the chance for my debut in Wisla especially because it was an ELW game. Now it is time to think about our next game."
