|Olcay Cakir had a major impact on Saturday EuroBasket 2017 Qualifiers clash against Israel|
Building on some eye-catching outings at Final Round in Hungary and Romania earlier this summer, the Fenerbahce guard enhanced her growing reputation while donning national team colours with an outstanding effort at the weekend.
Cakir enjoyed a stellar and flawless shooting night in the 72-53 success against Israel in her team's opening EuroBasket Women 2017 qualifier.
She found the hot-hand and sunk all five attempts from behind the three-point-line to finish with 17 points and even more encouragingly, she showed her maturity by speaking like a true veteran after the contest.
"These matches are very important for us, because our team has many faces missing and there are many new players," said Cakir.
"We are all here [with the team] for a very short amount of time and this was a very important win for us.
|Cakir is not getting ahead of herself, acknowledging, "There is still another important match ahead of us and other challenging periods."|
"But there is still another important match ahead of us and other challenging periods."
Not dwelling on your best moments, but immediately turning to what is waiting next on the agenda is a good sign for Turkish basketball fans.
Looking like a senior team lock for the foreseeable future, Cakir is continuing to ramp up the transmission of the same kind of influence she showed at youth level for her country.
Cakir looks to have already shown that she can be pencilled in as a future star at the highest level - but she won't be taking anything for granted or getting ahead of herself.
Not least with a game on Wednesday against Bosnia and Herzegovina to focus on and with Turkey's opponents having almost turned over Romania on the road.
