Head Coach Gundars Vetra has retained his position at the helm of Kursk

A third EuroLeague Women Final Four play-caller has signed an extension to coach another campaign in the competition after Gundars Vetra was confirmed as the head coach of Dynamo Kursk for the 2015-16 season.

Following on from UMMC Ekaterinburg retaining the services of Olaf Lange and reigning champions ZVVZ USK Prague unsurprisingly capturing Natalia Hejkova for another year, Kursk General Manager Viktoria Sgonnikova confirmed to the Russian media that she is to keep faith with Vetra.

The Latvian coach guided his team to a brilliant regular season in EuroLeague Women as they topped Group A, eventually finishing in third place in the Czech capital at the Final Four.

It was a position matched in domestic competition, with Kursk beating off Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje to cement third spot in the Russian Premier League.

It was therefore deemed that overall, the pre-season targets were met during what was a fruitful first year at the helm for Vetra.

Meanwhile one player who might not be returning to play for him is Isil Alben.

The playmaker told Turkish media outlet TRT Spor that while she has been offered an extension to stay in Russia, she was leaning towards a return to Turkey and preferably a move back to Galatasaray where she has spent the bulk of her career - including in 2014 when the Istanbul club won the EuroLeague Women title.
