Styliani Kaltsidou's all-around skills will be sorely missed by Bourges

There was a double whammy for Bourges Basket last night after they were not only dumped out of the French Cup at the quarter-final stage, but also look to have lost Styliani Kaltsidou to injury.

In an unwelcome déjà vu, the Greek wing fell to the floor in agony and clutching her knee against Lyon, almost a year to the day when she suffered her previous ACL injury.

Whilst the initial signs did not look good, everyone will be hoping medical scans don't confirm the worst fears.

Kaltsidou has only been back in action for a little more than three months, having returned in late November against Uni Gyor.

However, she has been hugely influential in helping Bourges to reach the EuroLeague Women Final Eight with a solid 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

This injury to Kaltsidou is the latest in a long line of injury blows for Bourges during recent times. This season alone, they have already lost their top two leading scorers in Frida Eldebrink and Cathy Joens.

Bourges lost 74-69 on their home floor against Lyon, hardly ideal preparation for Ekaterinburg - although it will be the welfare of Kaltsidou which remains uppermost in the mind of those involved with the club.

Elsewhere in the quarter-finals, league leaders Basket Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration squeezed into the last four courtesy of a narrow 72-69 success at Charleville, Nantes routed Arras 84-62 and USO Mondeville found an impressive 58-45 road win at Basket Landes.
