Bonner On Fire As Nadezhda Defeat Arras

11. Dewanna Bonner (Nadezhda)
Dewanna Bonner showcased her versatility with 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists

Play-off bound Nadezhda signed off their EuroLeague Women Group B campaign by strolling to a comfortable 89-71 home success against Arras thanks to a fine contribution from Dewanna Bonner.

The versatile American showcased her extensive skill set with an all-action performance against the visiting French club which culminated in 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Arras had arrived in Orenburg having belatedly found some momentum since the turn of the new calendar year and consequently searching for a third win in four games.

However, they ended without a road win to their name, as Nadezhda asserted their authority in the final period, holding Arras to just nine points.

For the most part, the visitors had shown stiff resistance, managing to just about keep pace with Nadezhda.

Indeed after successive baskets by Pauline Akonga towards the end of the third period, they were just four points behind at 66-62.

But, they ran out of steam and a disastrous 17-3 start to the fourth quarter proved to be costly - as did 19 turnovers.

Renee Montgomery also mustered an 18-point haul for Nadezhda, whilst Akonga reminded everyone of what Arras have missed whilst she has spent most of the season on maternity leave by harvesting 15 points and six rebounds.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Nadezhda Orenburg vs. Arras Pays D'Artois

Nadezhda head coach Algirdas Paulauskas:
"Not all was successful on the court, but every team shows itself in a tough game. I'm glad we revealed our character. The third quarter was hard, we got many fouls. Anyway, we got ourselves together and won. Congratulations to all players and fans!"

Nadezhda player Natalia Zhedik:
"My congratulations to everyone! We won a very important match and we needed this win. And of course we wanted to give this win to the president of our club as a birthday present."

Arras head coach Marc Silvert:
"We did everything we could to win today; I have only been the coach of my team for three weeks. Today Nadezhda played really well both in offence and defence and they easily scored the three-point shots, congratulations on winning!"

Arras player Johanne Gomis:
"It was a hard game - long flight, difficult trip. We were really tired. I should admit our opponents are more talented than we are. We gave everything we could, but our opponents were stronger."
