Van Grinsven To Bourges, Polkowice Act

27 May 2013

Bourges Basket have added to their roster with the signing of Dutch power forward Chatilla Van Grinsven, whilst Polish champions CCC Polkowice continue to act as they look to build on their historic season of success.

14. Chatilla van Grinsven (Netherlands)
Chatilla van Grinsven will start her club career at Bourges Basket after graduating from university in the United States

Bourges Basket have captured exciting 22 year old Chatilla Van Grinsveld as they bid to assemble a team capable of matching last seasons' exploits, which took them to the semi-finals at the Euroleague Women Final Eight, as well as the French Championship.

The Dutch forward was recently waived by Connecticut Sun as she tried to secure a WNBA spot and she will certainly have plenty to talk about in the locker room next year with her new team-mate Johannah Leedham.

The Great Britain star suffered exactly the same disappointment last week and could now return to French soil to play for the national team in Trelaze before returning to LFB action with Bourges, after the club handed her a new deal.

Van Grinsveld recently graduated from St. Joseph's College in Indiana, where she led the team in points and rebounds - although the majority of her NCAA career was spent at Colorado State.

She participated briefly for the senior national team during qualifying for EuroBasket Women 2011 and had a productive youth career, signing off with a tournament double-double of 12.6 points and 11.6 rebounds at the U20 European Championship a couple of years ago.

10. Teja Oblak (Slovenia)
Second try for Polkowice: Teja Oblak

Having already made the important step of retaining most of the spine of their team for next season via extended deals for Belinda SnellValeriya MusinaAgnieszka Majewska and Magdalena Leciejewska, CCC Polkowice have also now brought in a trio of new faces.

Experienced Spanish guard Elisa Aguilar headlines the list and will arrive at the club having spent last year with Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje. The 36 year old may have had a glowing recommendation about Polkowice from her Spanish national team colleague and fellow veteran Laia Palau, who spent last season with with the cliub.

And, the Polish champions have ensured a case of déjà vu, with their decision to plump for Slovenian Teja Oblak. That is because the player signed last summer, but subsequently sustained a torn ACL whilst on national team duty.

It meant her contract was ended, but Polkowice have now given the shooting guard an opportunity to return, after showing she is back to full fitness having stepped out in the Slovenian League with Athlete Celje, where she posted some encouraging numbers.

Meanwhile Polish national team hopeful Paulina Misiek has also been handed a contract after the small forward impressed with 10.1 points and 5.8 rebounds with Energa Torun last season.
