GAME REPORT

Brno Hands OT Heartache To Wisla

13. Farhiya Abdi (BK IMOS Brno)
Farhiya Abdi did all the damage for the homeside against the visitors from Wisla Can-Pack
Imos Brno picked up their first success of the season in dramatic circumstances after a thrilling 77-74 overtime victory against a crestfallen Wisla Can-Pack who remains without a win to their name in Group A.

After successive losses to open up the campaign, Wisla-Can Pack head-coach Jose Hernandez was desperate to get prize asset Tina Charles onto the court, and she underlined why this was the case with a stellar first contribution in a Wisla vest.

She accumulated a monumental 32 points and 14 rebounds in a bid to catapult her team to a first win, but it was to be in vain.

The Polish team will be kicking themselves for not getting the job done during regulation when during the dying seconds, Charles, Dora Horti and Anke De Mondt all had opportunities to find the decisive basket but failed, and to their credit, Brno fully capitalised on the situation.

They were absolutely terrific with Veronika Vlkova arguably an unlikely hero during overtime as she delivered the dagger from downtown which effectively won the game.

But, in the main, it was 18 points and 13 rebounds by Nicole Ohlde and also 24 points from young Swede Farihiya Abdi which made the difference

COACH QUOTES

Quotes BK IMOS Brno vs. Wisla Can-Pack

Brno head coach Jan Bobrovský

"We won thanks to an all-round performance. We played very well. But only in some moments. We were surprised that Charles made 32 points. She is a player of great caliber. But the other four players are watching how she plays. Match was very dramatic, but the basketball was not beautiful, it was a big fight. We were lucky that we got more points in the last quarter. In overtime we continued our good offensive performance, but in defence we played badly."

Brno player Veronika Vlková

"I did not plan my three-pointer to win the game. I must say that it was only a lucky shot. Each point of every one of my teammates was important. We made 77 points. Krakow played the whole game through Charles. She played by herself. In the last quarter, we helped together to defend Charles. The rest of the Polish team was not able to get into the game."

Wisla head coach Jose Hernández.

"In important match moments, we were under a lot of pressure from our rivals and we made a lot of mistakes. It confirmed that a 10-point lead in basketball means nothing. Some of our mistakes were incomprehensible. This is the second game we have lost in overtime. That is bad luck. We have put together a team to achieve its first victory in Euroleague."

Wisla player Cristina Ouvin

"We played well in the opening part of the match and even in parts of the second half. In the last quarter we needlessly lost a few balls. We stopped defending against our aggressive opponents' shooting. We shot from unprepared positions. The match was very dramatic in overtime. We missed out on the happiness. We are sure that next time it will be different. "
