New Hungary coach Norbert Székely, the boss of MKB Euroleasing Sopron, appears to be heading into this summer without the services of national team star Anna Vajda.
The MiZo Pecs forward, who was named in the national team's preliminary squad back on May 14, has said that she will take this summer off after picking up a lot of knocks in 2009-10.
"I'm not saying that the choice was simple, but it was rational," she said of her decision to tell Székely she would not play.
"Therefore, the choice is to skip the European Championship qualifying games so that next season I will be completely healthy and fresh.
"Not only will I be happy, but the team."
Vajda then indicated she is uncertain which team that will be.
The 25-year-old recently helpled MiZo Pecs capture the Hungarian title.
She has said that she wants to play abroad.
Hungary will take on Turkey, Montenegro and Bulgaria in EuroBasket Women 2011 qualifying games in August.
