Lattes Montpellier were already assured of a fifth-place finish and will also move into Round 2 with Sparta&K.
The home side had a great shot at victory against one of the powerhouses in the EuroLeague Women.
An Ana Lelas lay-up gave the hosts a 67-57 lead with 5:14 to go but the French club then called a timeout.
Sonja Petrovic started the Sparta&K comeback with a three-pointer when play resumed and then Augustus made a lay-up to cut the deficit to 67-62.

The Russians allowed time to run off the clock before fouling the French club twice.
Lattes Montpellier got one last look at victory but Lelas was off target with a jumper as they finished 6-8.

Edwige Lawson-Wade had 19 points, seven assists and three steals in defeat.
Sparta&K head coach Pokey Chatman
"It's always a difficult game against BLMA, we know they play to a system and are very consistent. I coached Edwige Lawson so I know what she can do, and they have some complimentary players around her. I didn't think about who we'll be playing in the next round, the important thing is that my team progresses."
Sparta&K point guard Rebekka Hammon
"We'll take the win tonight but we avoided a bullet. We started the game well but at this time of the season we need to play the full 40 minutes with the same intensity."
BLMA head coach Valery Demory
"I'm proud of my players, we played a really good all-round game tonight. We lacked experience at the end, we should have been more aggressive to win the last two rebounds at the end of the game."
BLMA point guard Edwige Lawson
"We played a really complete game tonight, both in offense and defence, but sometimes you can't beat pure talent. For me Seimone Augustus is one of the best players in the world."
