|Danielle Mc Cray sparked Good Angels Kosice with a game-high 22 points and 6 rebounds|
Good Angels Kosice led from start to finish as they knocked off Cras Basket Taranto 61-56 to join Wisla Can-Pack Krakow with a 3-1 record at the top of Group C in the EuroLeague Women.
They began on a tear and when Lucia Kupcikova struck a jump-shot less than five minutes into the game they had already established an 11-3 edge.
Taranto did their best to stick around, but the gap moved into double figures late in the second quarter when Danielle McCray hit a pair of free throws to make it 26-15, then followed with a three-pointer to help build a 33-21 edge by half-time.
The hosts did their best to stay in the fight, and got the deficit back into the single figures with a three-point play from Michelle Greco cutting the gap to 49-40 in the fourth quarter.
Kosice did not appear troubled, and got their lead back up to 16, 58-42, on two free throws from Bernadett Nemeth with 3:22 to go.
It was only then that Taranto showed the kind of form that might have made this a better contest, as they finished on a 14-4 run to slice the gap to five without ever truly having time to make a game of it.
McCray led Kosice with 22 points while Kupcikova added 15.
Giorgia Sottana led Taranto with 14 points while Kia Vaughn had 13 and Elodie Godin and Greco finished with 10 each.
"Kosice deserved to win because they played better than us. Now we must reflect on our basketball".
Cras Player Michelle Greco:
"We struggled, but tonight it was not enough. Kosice was more complete than us".
Good Angels Kosice Head Coach Stefan Svitek:
"This is really positive start to the season. The team is growing and this success is very important because it was obtained against a strong team".
Good Angels Kosice Player Danielle Mc Cray:
"I'm happy because tonight we proved the strength of our team. These two points for the group C ranking".
