|Injury to Diana Taurasi is a major blow to UMMC Ekaterinburg|
UMMC Ekaterinburg have had their hopes of recapturing the EuroLeague Women title dealt a major blow after it was confirmed their prize asset Diana Taurasi has been ruled out of the Final Four with a broken hand.
The five-time Euroleague Women champion sustained the injury in the recent Russian Play-Off Quarter Finals against Energia Ivanovo and has undergone surgery in Los Angeles.
While UMMC are hoping that with a full recovery she may be back for the Russian Premier League Finals, they will be left sweating on the fitness of the guard, who will be out of action for several weeks.
Most pressing for UMMC is that she won't be around in Prague this weekend and most vitally of all, for their semi-final clash against Dynamo Kursk.
For all of their vast resources, the absence of the 32-year-old leaves an immeasurable hole in the UMMC roster.
Not least because she is the clutch player for the Russian juggernauts and also leads them in scoring with 16.9 points per game as well as contributing 5.9 assists per game.
