Perfumerias Avenida's EuroLeague Women All Star Nicole Powell is confident good times will remain at the Salamanca club.

Powell, an American who was the EuroLeagueWomen's sixth leading scorer at 17.3 points per game this season, shot an incredible 50% from three-point range (37-of-74) as the team reached the eighth-finals before losing two close games against TEO Vilnius.

"This was Avenida's first time in the EuroLeague, and we really gave our best effort," said Powell, who played college basketball at Stanford.

Nicole Powell was the EuroLeague Women's leading three-point shooter this season.
"It was a tough bracket, but we're a young team.

"It's a tough situation for our players to be in close games.

"I think we did well, but can do better."

Avenida won four and lost six group games, but they were in a difficult pool.

Also in Group B were EuroLeague Women Final Four participants CSKA Volgaburmash and Bourges Basket, along with MiZo Pécs, Dexia Namur and ZVVZ USK Prague.

As for next season?

"If they have the opportunity, I think they definitely will do well (in the EuroLeague)," Powell said.

"I think the club is committed to women's basketball, and they have great support."

Sometimes, having European commitments can be a drain on teams but the former Fenerbahce forward believe it has only helped Avenida become stronger on the domestic scene.

In the Liga Femenina, they are second behind Ros Casares and Powell said: "We're just trying to win some games in the Spanish league but it's been a boost for us."

The EuroLeague Women All Star Game was a nice way to finish off her European campaign.

"I was really excited just to be invited and to be a part of it," she said.

"The whole occasion, getting to talk to everyone about the Year of Women's Basketball. They did a great job getting fans to the game."

Powell took part in the three-point shooting contest, but lost out to Caroline Aubert of USO Mondeville.

The event finished on a high for everyone, with a wonderful post-game dinner at the Valencia Tennis Club following a night out in the city.

"Dinner was great," Powell said.

"The important thing was putting out a really good product (for fans).

"That's what it's all about."
