|Ömer Yurtseven was the pivotal force in Turkey's win|
Turkey demonstrated the greater poise and execution in the vital moments as they came out on top 76-68 in an entertaining game against Lithuania at the U16 European Championship in Ogre on Wednesday.
Turning Point: Ömer Al brought the Turkish bench to their feet when he hit a three-pointer inside the final four minutes to make it 66-65. This was soon followed by an emphatic Ömer Yurtseven dunk on the fast-break which established the lead Turkey would never relinquish.
Game Hero: Tadas Sedekerskis did everything he could to get Lithuania over the line, pouring in an incredible 35 points. But it wasn't enough as Yurtseven led, and provided the focal point for, a more balanced offensive unit that scored in more ways than their opponents - finishing with 18 for himself.
Stats Don't Lie: Turkey scored 46 of their points in the paint but also managed to match that with an outside threat of 35% three-point shooting on 23 attempts. This proved a more sustainable attack than Lithuania's reliance on Sedekerskis.
The Bottom Line: Based on what they showed here, both these teams should have enough to emerge from Group A and how Lithuania respond to such a defeat will tell a lot about the type of team they are going to be. Turkey meanwhile will be buoyant and will aim to build on this when they face Finland on Thursday.
