|Aleksa Radanov had an efficient 17 points for Serbia|
Serbia took a big step towards qualification for the second round of the U16 European Championship with a 98-73 win over Lithuania in Ogre on Thursday.
Turning Point: Serbia trailed by five early in a high-scoring first quarter before a 13-0 sequence wiped out that deficit and put them in control with a 26-18 lead. They steadily built on this throughout the game as Lithuania failed to get their offence going and that frustration translated to the defensive end.
Game Hero: Novak Music was the key man for Serbia as he scored a game-high 22 points including four triples. He was also instrumental in the run that saw the game shift Serbia's way.
Stats Don't Lie: The most telling statistics from this game are those that portray Lithuania's lack of depth. Tadas Sedekerskis was incredible in their first game, scoring 35 points, but his team's reliance on him looked like it could be a problem and so it proved. He only had four points this time, and Lithuania's bench only chipped in with 10 compared to 32 from Serbia's substitutes.
The Bottom Line: Lithuania need to find a way to get the most out of their team's talents and ideally before Friday's crunch game against Finland. Serbia have now won two of two and the pressure is relieved somewhat with Turkey to come next.
