|Marko Mugosa led Montenegro in a big way, dropping 30 points on Ukraine|
Forward Marko Mugosa scored an opening day-high 30 points on Tuesday to propel Montenegro to an 83-58 rout of Ukraine in Group B action at the Sportland U20 European Championship in Estonia.
Montenegro stuck to the basics right from tip-off, passed the ball inside to Mugosa and center Vukota Pavic, who combined for 27 points in the first half and helped their team establish a comfy 40-31 cushion at the half-time interval.
Ukraine meanwhile were dominant on the glass and even out-rebounded the winners 42-41, but they were also reckless with the ball on the offensive end and committed 10 early turnovers, while choosing to take a big portion of their shots from long range.
They had shot a damning 1-for-18 from behind the three-point arc midway through the third quarter, by which point Montenegro had already pulled away by an unassailable 20 points, 56-35, to seal the fate of the encounter.
Mugosa collected his 30 points on 11-for-15 shooting from the floor and added six rebounds and three assists, while Pavic finished with 22 points and a game-high eight boards.
Klym Artamonov, Oleksandr Furs and Sergiy Zagreba each scored 10 points for Ukraine.
