Serbia Keep Up Momentum Against Austria

Branislav Djekic (Serbia)
Serbia power forward Branislav Djekic registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds

Serbia continue to win in Group G of the U20 European Championship in Bilbao, Spain this time with an 83-64 triumph over Austria.

The Serbs jump to a 2-0 record in the 13-16 Classification Round and lead the quartet at the top of the group.

Austria fell to 1-1 at the end of Day 2 in the group, and will hope the big difference won't play a role at the finish line.

Danilo Andjusic combined 16 points, six rebounds and four assists for Serbia followed by Branislav Djekic with 14 and 10 boards, 13 by Namanja Jaramaz had 13 points and six rebounds and Nemanja Nedovic added 12.

Jozo Rados led Austria with 13 points and six rebounds while Carlos Novas and Thomas Klepeisz had 10 each.

Serbia used a 10-0 run late in the first quarter to take a 21-10 lead after less than nine minutes, and Andjusic pushed for another run right before the end of the first half to push the difference to 16, 45-29.

The Serbian defense locked Anton Maresch on only two points and just one made field goal in seven attempts.

Without him Austria didn't have the tools to create a comeback.

Lazar Radovasljevic pushed the gap to 23 mid-way in the closing quarter as Serbia cruised for a second win in a row.

Tomorrow Serbia will face Croatia as both sides will attempt to keep the momentum going, while Austria will face Lithuania.
