Germany celebrated an 80-61 victory over Montenegro in the 5-8 Classification Round.
Tomorrow the German team will take on the winner between Turkey and Latvia, that will play in the following game, and the winner will earn the fifth spot.
Montenegro will take on the loser from that game and will battle for the seventh standing.
With today's win Germany secured an improvement on their best historical achievement in the U20 European Championship, as the highest ranking they have reached so far was in 1998, when Dirk Nowitzki played for them and they grabbed the seventh spot.
Mathis Monninghoff had 17 points including five three pointers for Germany, Daniel Theis added 13 while Danilo Barthel and Niels Giffey finished with 12 each.
Bojan Dubljevic added another double-double to his records with 18 points and 10 rebounds and Marko Todorovic finished with 11 points.
Germany had the lead from the first period and walked to the half-time break up by eight points, 35-27.
Monninghoff was on fire in the second half when he hit four of his three-pointers, including three in the closing period when Germany made another run to make sure Montenegro won't sneak from the back to steal the win.
