Austria won the hearts of an entire nation last summer when they hosted and captured the gold medal at the U20 European Championship Division B.

Now the team is setting out to prove they belong in Division A.

Austria will compete against Greece, Spain and Turkey in Group C when the U20 European Championship is staged in Bilbao.

Greece won the title two years ago and finished runners-up in 2010, while Turkey are an established team in Division A and Spain are not only the hosts but an established force.

"We have nothing to lose," coach Werner Sallomon said.

"We are not found to be among the favorites.

"With the top three nations, we have not got the easiest group.

"On the other hand, there is also a great opportunity for the team."

Austria had some of their warm-ups in Oberwart.

The training sessions have been good.

"I would like also to thank the association and especially Robert Langer," Sallomon said.

"The tournament in Oberwart was already a foretaste of what awaits us at the European Championship.

"I am very satisfied with the preparations."

Austria squad: Daniel Friedrich, Erik Fruhwirth, Mathias Gunka, Thomas Klepeisz, Filip Kramer, Lukas Linzer, Anton Maresch, Carlos Novas Mateo, Jozo Rados, Claudio Vancura, Romed Vieider and Erwin Zulic.
