U20 European Championship Men 2010 hosts Croatia now have Serbia in their sights when the action moves to Zadar for the quarter-finals after wrapping up the Qualifying Round in Makarska with a 77-63 win against Italy.
Croatia head coach Borislav Kurtovic admitted the clash with the Italians who had already failed to qualify for the last eight of the competition gave him a chance to rotate his players and he was left satisfied with the results.
"This game had no importance for us," explained Kurtovic.
"I used this game to let our younger players to come to the fore.
"We made some mistakes in the second half but I think that overall we deserved to win.
"For the remainder of the competition, we want our defence to be a constant while out offence has been a problem but it will be resolved".
Croatia were led by Ivan Batur who had 14 points and 8 rebounds including a perfect three of three from the perimeter and also Mario Delas who shone once again with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
Paul Biligha and Davide Pascolo both registered 12 points and 7 rebounds for Italy.
