Croatia In Quarter-Final Mood, Blow Out France

14 July 2010

Croatia head coach Borislav Kurtovic praised his team after another convincing win for the hosts who booked their place in the quarter-finals after routing the previously unbeaten France in spectacular fashion with a 65-40 victory at the U20 European Championship Men 2010 in Makarska.

Mario Delas posted 15 points to top score as usual in front of their delighted fans but Kurtovic was quick to hand out the plaudits - especially after the team shot over forty percent from behind the arc.

"I am absolutely delighted as our game is lifting all the time," said the Croatia coach.

"Even with no Toni Prostran in the team, our guys were really great both yesterday and today.

"We played a patient game and made our shots from outside."

Far from getting too excited with the way things are beginning to pan out after a nervous start and a defeat against Spain, guard Dino Butorac tempered Croatian joy with a word of caution to remind everyone that the games are only going to get even harder.

"The French team are similar to us. It was a very nervous encounter at first because this game was important for both teams.

"We started our comeback with a win against Russia, then against the French today and now we expect that to continue."

"However, in this Championship, the truth is there is no easy opponent."

Croatia pretty much dominated from tip to buzzer against the misfiring French whose blunted offence in the last couple of games must now be a real source of concern to Coach Toupane approaching the serious business of the quarter-finals.
