Lithuania Sweep Latvia In U20 Baltic Battle

The U20 European Championship tips off in 10 days in Croatia and two sides in the Baltics look as if they are in very different form heading into the tournament.

Lithuania destroyed Latvia over the weekend in a couple of friendly games.

In the first game, Lithuania rolled to an 83-47 victory.

Tautvydas Slezas scored 11 points, Augustas Peciukevicius and Mantas Kadzevicius 10 apiece and Eimantas Bendzius and Evaldas Kairys nine each for the winners.

The second contest was closer, but nevertheless a blowout.

Gediminas Orelikas had 17 points as Lithuania clinched a 77-58 win.

Lithuania will take on Montenegro, Turkey and Serbia in Group B at the U20 European Championship, which is being from July 8-18.

The Latvians will compete in Group A against Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Greece.
