France Crush Slovenia

01 August 2008

France and Slovenia faced each other on the last game of the opening day, but only one side showed up for the match.

France easily showed who's the boss with a 91-46 win that ought to give them a lot of confidence for the following day.

Edwin Jackson led the way for France with 15 points, Ludovic Vaty added 13 while Antoine Diot added 12 points.

Mirko Mulalic was the only player for Slovenia to score in double-digits with 16.

France made their first push late in the first quarter to take a 26-11 lead after ten minutes, behind a 15-1 run.

Slovenia's reply was too mellow, and Diot exploited that to turn it into a 20 point game with a dunk, 36-16.

A three-pointer by Mulalic set the half time score on 40-23, but left few hopes for a Slovenian come back.

If anyone hoped this game would get any closer he forgot to mention that to Jackson. In less than 90 seconds he hit three times from long range and turned Slovenia's loss to a landslide.

Yet another outside hit by Jackson and a dunk by Rudy Jomby paved the way to a 70-29 French lead before the end of the third quarter.

Until the buzzer Slovenia tried to narrow the gap, but France just made it worse extending the difference to 45 with the buzzer.

France will match up with Russia tomorrow while Slovenia will attempt to beat the favorite team from Serbia.
