|Marième Badiane provided France their tempo with 13 boards and eight points|
France recovered from their opening day defeat to Spain with a convincing 68-43 victory over Latvia at the U20 European Championship Women in Udine on Friday.
Turning Point: Latvia were sticking with their more illustrious opponents until Marième Badiane's second quarter hook shot was followed by an Awa Sissoko three-pointer and lay-up which galvanised France and took them on a 12-0 run to make it 40-19 before half-time.
Game Hero: As well as scoring what turned out to be the game's pivotal points, Badiane was influential all over the floor, registering in all categories but most notably in rebounds, with 13 and points, with eight.
Stats Don't Lie: Latvia could not keep the French off the boards and their more powerful opponents made them pay for this. France reeled in 47 rebounds to Latvia's 35 while also converting a number of their offensive rebounds for 15 second chance points.
The Bottom Line: France began to show some of the play they are capable of producing having struggled on day one against Spain and will be pleased that some of their key protagonists were able to find their touch. Life gets no easier for Latvia however, as they prepare to face the reigning champions in their final group game on Saturday.
