Poland picked up their second consecutive victory and jumped atopClassification Group G with a 58-51 win over Lithuania at the U20 European Championship Women on Tuesday.
An 18-3 run in the first quarter gave Poland a double-digit advantage and the lead for good. The Lithuanians lingered throughout the match, coming within three points on two occasions.
It was 54-51 with less than two minutes to go, but Magdalena Koperwas sealed the deal scoring a basket and additional free throw.
Poland used their 22 steals for a 14-4 advantage in fast break points, and scored 19 second-chance points compared to Lithuania's nine.
Karolina Puss was the only scorer in double figures for Poland with 10, while Dominika Miloszewska and Dominika Owczarzak each had nine.
Ieva Preskienyte led Lithuania with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
