Özge Kavurmacioglu led Turkey to victory with 16 points and nine boards

he host nation Turkey downed Germany 72-48 to wrap up Friday action and jump atop of the Group D at the U20 European Championship Women in Samsun.

With this outcome, both Turkey and Germany, along with Sweden, claimed a place in the Second Round.

Turkey started to pull away in the end of the second quarter when Ayse Cora, Pelin Bilgic and Tilbe Senyürek put together a 12-4 spurt for a 37-28 halftime lead. After the break, a 12-2 run put the hosts up 49-34 and they kept the double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.

Turkey grabbed a massive 31 offensive boards, and they outrebounded Germany 56-35.

Özge Kavurmacioglu led in victroy with 16 points and 9 rebounds, Cora scored 13, while Gizem Sezer chipped in with 11.

Katharina Müller had 16 points in defeat.
