With three players posting double-doubles, the Netherlands tipped off their campaign at the U20 European Championship Women in dominant fashion, downing Serbia 75-43 in the first game of Group A on Thursday.
Loyce Betonvil scored 10 out of 18 unanswered points in a span of five minutes in the first quarter as the Dutch side grabbed a big 18-2 lead and never looked back. Even tough Serbia cut it to 37-30 at halftime, the Netherlands dominated in the second half, especially in a fourth quarter that they won 21-2.
The Netherlands out-rebounded Serbia 55-36, as Richelle van der Keijl led the winning team with 23 points and 11 boards. Jamailah Adams had an all-round performance of 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Betonvil finished with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Maxime Essenstam had 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Natasa Kovacevic ans Aleksandra Stanacev had 11 points apiece on the Serbian side.
