4. Francesca Dotto (Italy)
Francesca Dotto was again the driving force for Italy

With a suffocating defence that held their opponents scoreless for long stretches throughout the game, Italy opened the action in Group F by beating Sweden 66-47, coming a step closer to securing a quarter-finals berth in the  of the U20 European Championship Women on Monday.

Italy used good defence, their big weapon at this tournament, to hold Sweden to only two field goals in the first quarter, force 14 first-half turnovers, and build a 30-17 halftime advantage.

Led by the brilliant Francesca Dotto who set the tone on defence while stringing together 13 consecutive points, Italy went ahead 49-23 in the third quarter and cruised to a huge victory.

Sweden grabbed 29 offensive rebounds and held a 54-38 advantage on the glass, but Italy committed only nine turnovers, while forcing 25 and scoring as many points off of them.

Francesca Dotto led with 17 points and seven steals, Alessandra Formica scored 14, and Ilaria Milazzo chipped in with 12.

For Sweden, Josefin Vesterberg amassed 15 points, 17 rebounds and seven blocked shots.
