|Pinar Demirok and Turkey stormed out the gates to down Poland|
Turkey stunned Poland 69-48 to deny them first place in Group E of the qualifying round at the U20 European Championship Women.
Turkey, already eliminated from contention for the quarter-finals, exploded out of the blocks, while Poland could not find their shooting touch at all to find themselves trailing 24-5 at the end of the first quarter.
The damage had effectively been done, and although Poland would match Turkey for the rest of the game, they never showed any sign of mounting a rally.
They got to within 17 points, 46-29, on a three-pointer from Monika Jasnowska, but never any closer as the exertions of their 72-66 win over defending champions Russia a day before seemed to catch up with them.
For Turkey, it was a consolation win to end a disappointing qualifying round, marred by the serious injury to Gamze Takmaz.
Ozge Yavas led Turkey with 13 points while Esra Ural had 11 and 15 rebounds. Serenay Cakmakci and Pinar Demirok added 10 points each.
Malgorzata Misiuk was the only Polish player to score in double figures with 10.
