Germany pulled through in the final moments to top Belarus 73-71 for their first win in the fight against releation at the U20 European Championship Women.
Belarus had rallied from 68-63 down to take the lead at 69-68 with 1:50 to go on a three-pointer from Maryia Rashchenia.
But Sonja Gaudermann's jump-shot put them back on top and Svenja Brunckhorst coolly slooted a pair of free throws to give them a cushion.
Nadzeya Bohdan's lay-up had Belarus back within one, 72-71, with 59 seconds left, but when Aliaksandra Musatava's late three-pointer missed, they were out of chances, and Brunckhorst iced the game from the charity stripe.
Emina Karic led Germany with 15 points, while Belarus wasted 26 points from Musatava.
Earlier, Slovakia moved to 2-0 in the round with a 54-33 win over struggling Romania.
