A product of the Belgian Basketball Federation programme, De Zeeuw featured in the U16 European Championship in 2003 and then at U20 level in 2007 before making his senior debut in a EuroBasket qualifier in 2008. He was a member of the roster at EuroBasket 2011 and again in 2013 after originally being named as a reserve. Starting his career with Brussels, he had two spells with Verviers-Pepinster, winning the Belgian Most Promising Player of the Year award in 2009. While at Antwerp Giants, he was named the 2014 Belgium Player of the Year. He signed for Nymburk in July after a season at Roma. Maxime is a supporter of Anderlecht Football Club.
