Reggio Emilia needed overtime to punch their ticket to the quarter-finals of the EuroChallenge but eventually prevailed 69-66 in a thrilling battle against Krka Novo Mesto.

A straight fight for second place in Group J saw 14 lead changes, 11 ties and two teams never separated by more than eight points.

Krka missed the chance to win it when Edo Muric split a pair of free throws with four seconds left in regulation, tying the game moments after James White's three-pointer had given Reggio the lead, but blowing what would have been the game-winning shot.

Krka then struck first in overtime but Angelo Gigli's lay-up was followed by White's free throws with 2:26 to go, and Reggio led to the finish.

Jaka Klobucar split a pair of free throws to halve the deficit with 88 seoncds to go, but Andrea Cinciarini and White hit back-to-back shots and it was over.

The first 40 minutes kept the game on a knife edge with breathing space hard to find.

The biggest lead held by either team came when Jasmin Hukic sank two free throws to put Krka up 50-42 with 6:40 to go in the game.

But Reggio clawed their way back to level terms, with a lay-up from Rimantas Kaukenas making it 58-58 with 77 seconds left.

Muric edged Krka in front with two free throws but White hit back with the three.

Muric drew a foul from Troy Bell with four seconds left, but Muric could only hit the first of his two shots, and it would cost them in overtime.

White poured in 28 points for Reggio with Kaukenas adding 15 and Gigli 11 with seven rebounds.

Zvonko Buljan had 18 points with 11 rebounds for Krka, with Klobucar adding 17. Muric finished with 10 points and 11 boards.
