Drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2013 NBA Draft, Timma is one of the marquee names of the new generation of Latvian players. The 23-year-old forward who can stretch the floor and defend multiple positions, put together yet another solid season in Latvia after moving from Ventspils to VEF Riga last summer. He played exceptionally well in all three leagues that his team competed, averaging 12.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in Eurocup, receiving the VTB Young Player of the Year honours and winning his second LBL championship trophy. Following a dominant season, the prospect is set to start his career abroad after signing a two-year deal with Zenit Saint Petersburg. Having had to miss out on EuroBasket 2013 after contracting a virus just before the start of the tournament, Timma has waited two more years to play in his first major tournament with the senior national team.
