BC Zepter Vienna held off a late Tartu Rock rally to register their first win in Group C of EuroChallenge.

Having built a lead which reached as many as 18 early in the fourth quarter, Vienna watched it evaporate as Tartu got within one with four minutes left to play before responding with a 10-3 run to the finish.

Vienna took control of what had been a close game midway through the second quarter with a 13-2 run capped by Florian Trmal's three-pointer that made it 40-32 with 3:33 left in the half.

They led 48-37 at the break and continued to pull away in the third quarter, with Trmal's jump-shot making it 60-45 with 3:34 left in the period.

Back-to-back baskets from Predrag Miletic had them up 69-51 early in the fourth quarter but Tartu were determined not to roll over.

Vincent Simpson's three-pointer started the fight back, and then he and Janar Talts teamed up for back-to-back long-rangers, it was 72-69 with 4:53 left.

Vienna called time out but Simpson made a lay-up before they could register again, cutting it to a one-point game.

This time Vienna did respond, using an 8-1 run to lead 80-72 on Miletic's lay-up with 1:42 to go, and this time they held off another comeback.

Nikola Pavlicevic scored 18 to lead five Vienna players scoring in double figures, with Nenad Sulovic adding 16.

Simpson had 16 and Uros Lukovic 15 for Tartu.
