ZZ Leiden captain Worthy de Jong possibly best personifies the Dutch success of qualifying for EuroBasket 2015. Not the tallest or strongest player around, not a great shooter and prone for turnovers, de Jong makes up for it by relentlessly attacking the offensive glass, getting stops and steals on defence and contributing in many facets that cannot be found on a stats sheet. He was an integral part of the two Leiden teams that won the Dutch championship under coach van Helfteren in 2011 and 2013. The Suriname-born forward, who is an enthusiastic photographer, breathes the fighting spirit of the Dutch Lions and you can count on the Dutch glue guy in Zagreb as well. De Jong and Akerboom should complement each other well on the wing with their respective skill sets.
