|Vincent Simpson was responsible for leading Tartu Rock's decisive first-half charge|
The previously unbeaten BK Ventspils have been humbled at home, 81-63 by northern neighbours Tartu Rock who now improve to 2-2.
Seeking revenge for a one-point loss at home to Ventspils in their opening Group C game, the Estonians duly got it thanks to a late first quarter turnaround that carried into the second stanza.
Venstpils' rapid-fire start had them ahead 13-5 on a Lorenzo Williams free-throw but they were quickly pinned back as Vincent Simpson tied proceedings back up at 21 with a three to begin second-quarter scoring.
It was Simpson who was leading the guests' scoring with his 11 first-half points enough to have turned the tide and have Tartu Rock in front 46-37 at the half.
The American went on to finish with 16 points - a shared team-high with Tanel Kurbas.
Making just one shot from the field in the third quarter, any home-team thoughts of overcoming the half-time deficit were quickly quashed as the lead stretched to 17 points on a Simpson lay-up with 44 seconds remaining in the third.
Despite an improved final quarter showing, the Latvian club has to be content with waiting at least one more week before confirming their spot in the Last Sixteen with the damage from the 30 minutes previous proving irreparable.
The best effort from Ventspils came courtesy of Rolands Zakis with another dominant night in the paint landing him 18 points and six boards.
