|Keith Benson stood out for Tsmoki Minsk, scoring 24 points|
Tsmoki Minsk produced a huge third quarter to power them to a dominant 100-64 win at Team TEHO Sport Kotka to start their EuroChallenge Last 16 campaign on Wednesday evening.
The hosts had the better start, five Chris Owens points making it 7-2 after only two minutes and they held on to the lead until the end of the frame, 23-17.
Minsk started finding their rhythm though, scoring the first four points of the second quarter, making it a tight affair from then on.
Keith Benson with two free-throws, made his 12th and 13th points of the night, putting the visitors back in front for the first time since the opening minute and the teams kept trading points until the end of the half, Tsmoki taking a 41-38 lead into the break.
Minsk looked like they found another gear in the third frame, putting the shackles on Kotka, going on a 19-5 scoring run between the 30th and 35th minute that all but decided the game.
After 30 minutes, TEHO Sport were on the wrong end of a 76-48 lead and Tsmoki kept piling the misery on their hosts in the last quarter, breaking into triple figures on the last play of the game.
Benson was not as dominant as usual on the glass, but carried the weight on offence, pouring in 24 points, while Vitali Liutych added 12 and Demonte Harper 10 points.
Kotka had four players in double figures but will look more at their defence when trying to explain the defeat.
