France picked up an important victory in their battle for the quarter-finals of the U18 European Championship by racing past Poland 73-37 in Second Round Group E.
Alpha Kaba led the French in scoring with 17 points while Isaia Cordinier had 15 points and eight rebounds, Ywen Smock added 12 points, Lucas Dussoulier hit 10 points and Félix Michel chipped in two points, five rebounds and nine assists.
Marcel Ponitka was the only Polish player to score in double figures with 10 points while Grzegorz Kulka had nine points and seven rebounds.
Turning point: France were ahead 15-12 late in the first quarter before going on a 9-0 run to open a 24-12 lead. Poland never really threatened but France put the game out of reach with a 10-2 run to start the second half for a 43-22 lead midway through the third quarter.
Game Hero: Kuba added 11 rebounds and two steals to his 17 points for France in the blowout.
Stats Don't Lie: France held Poland to 24 per cent shooting and out-rebounded them 48-30 and forced 20 Polish turnovers.
