Federico Mussini scored 21 of his 23 points in the final 14 minutes to lead Italy to a come-from-behind 64-61 win over Lithuania in Second Round Group E at the U18 European Championship.
Italy also got 22 points from Diego Flaccadori, but no other Italian player scored more than five points.
Martynas Varnas paced Lithuania with 11 points while Domantas Sabonis had nine points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and three blocks.
Turning point: A day after failing to close out Latvia in wasting an 18-point fourth-quarter lead, Lithuania led 58-52 with 2:55 minutes remaining. But Italy finished the game on a 12-3 run to get the win.
Game Hero: Mussini showed up big when it counted most and tallied 21 points in the final 14 minutes to bring Italy back from a possible defeat.
Stats Don't Lie: Mussini and Flaccadori combined for 30 of Italy's final 32 points and Italy had 13 fast break points compared to four for Lithuania.
The Bottom Line: Italy, who had already secured a quarter-final spot on Monday, improved to 4-0 in Group E while Lithuania dropped to 1-3 in the group and will have a challenge to reach the knockout stage.
