Ukraine completed an impressive fourth quarter comeback to defeat Slovenia 65-60 in their opening classification Group G encounter.

Unable to avoid a First Round elimination from the U18 European Championship despite a thrilling one-point win against Turkey on Saturday, Ukraine scored 25 fourth-quarter points to overcome a 17-point third-quarter deficit.

Illya Sydorov led a three-pronged attack featuring Yevgen Sakhniuk and Igor Boyarkin that outscored Slovenia 21-12 in the final term.

Slovenia controlled much of the game as Matic Rebec scored 12 first-half points as the team ran a number of deadly fast-breaks and their defence forced Ukraine to commit 15 turnovers during the stretch.

Sydorov score a team-high 19 points and Sakhniuk finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Ziga Zatezic led Slovenia with 19 points and four three-point baskets.
