|Haris Curevac and Bosnia and Herzegovina scrapped their way to victory in Ventspils on Friday|
Bosnia and Herzegovina held on to snatch a miraculous one-point 52-51 victory in a scrappy affair against Greece in Group B action in Ventspils on Friday.
Greece was given every chance to steal the win after Ioannis Chatzinikolas brought them within a point in the final minute and Bojan Lulic missed two free throws at the other end. But a final attempt and a missed opportunity to foul saw Bosnia and Herzegovina escape with the narrowest of wins.
Fourth-quarter heroes Lulic and Stefan Lakic produced some timely long-range shooting to help Bosnia and Herzegovina repel an unrelenting Greece. The duo combined to hit a number of vital last quarter jump shots before center Imran Polutak put the finishing touches on the tense win.
A low-scoring encounter characterised by missed shot after missed shot and turnovers, neither side was able to crack the 10-point mark at quarter-time. The point tally eventually picked up, however both teams combined to make just a single three-point shot from 17 attempts.
Dimitrios Stamatis did his best to ignite the Greek side with 10 points and three assists as Alexandros Spyridonidis suffered through a rough night. Diamantakos was the best of the big men, scoring 13 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
Aleksandar Lazic top-scored for Bosnia and Herzegovina with 13 points.
