The young giant from Torun was named heir to Marcin Gortat as the next big Polish center by Gortat himself, who jokingly calls Karnowski ‘Sarenka' (‘Little deer'). But don't be surprised if Sarenka outruns players on the fast break, because despite his huge frame, Karnowski shows fantastic mobility. However, this said, he will of course make his living playing in the paint, where he can be dominant using his left hand and dunking over people. He played alongside fellow internationals Lithuanian Domantas Sabonis and Canadian Kyle Wiltjer at Gonzaga University last season, helping them reach the March Madness Elite Eight, before losing to eventual champion Duke. He will go back to Gonzaga for a senior season before trying to become the fourth Polish player in the NBA, following in the footsteps of Cezary Trybanski, Maciej Lampe and Gortat.
