BC Valmiera/Rujiena got their second win in the FIBA Europe Cup men Conference North Group D, after a thrilling overtime defeating BC TTU/A.Le Coq 91-90.
In the early phase of the game the home team was in control and had a huge 21-9 lead shortly before the end of the first period.
In the second quarter the Estonian guests were finally able to interrupt the flow of Valmiera’s game and closed the gap to four points after 20 minutes (40-36). But after the break the Latvians once again could increase their lead and dominated the game in front of home crowd. Being 11 points in advance (64-53) and even increasing their lead to 71-59, Valmiera looked like the secure winner.
But the less time was on the game clock the better BC TTU/A.Le Coq began to play and shortened the lead point by point. And after Andris Umbrasko has been fouled at a successful jumper and had made the following free throw the score was tied and the game went on to extra-time.
No team got control of the game in the extra five minutes and 18 seconds to go the score was 8890 in favor of Le coq when forward Juris Andzejevskis hit a game-winning three-pointer.
