|Lucie Hosková and Czech Republic stayed unbeaten by winning versus Italy|
Turning Point: Despite being behind throughout the second half, the Italian team made a few runs, with the Czech team digging deep to keep them at bay. Lorela Cubaj's battle in the post with Czech star Julia Reisingerová was fascinating, and Cubaj had the upper hand early in the fourth quarter as the lead was reduced to six, but then she picked up two quick fouls. With their center on the bench, Italy couldn't make the same impact inside and conceded 11 unanswered points as the Czech Republic made their decisive burst.
Game Heroes: With Reisingerová quelled, her team stepped up around her. Lucie Hosková led the way with 15 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, Michaela Krejzová added 12 points and Adéla Neubauerová had 11 points, five assists and five boards. Cubaj ended with a game-high 17 points, as well as seven rebounds and two blocks.
Stats Don't Lie: Aside from Cubaj, no-one else on the Italian team could get going, and the team ended with less than 30% shooting overall. The strong Czech defence led to easy baskets on the other end, and they finished with 18 fast break points in total.
The Bottom Line: The Czech Republic take four points through to their second round group, while Italy will carry through three points having also beaten fellow qualifier Sweden. Latvia, France and Belgium await in the second round, which begins on Monday.
