Belgium pulled clear with a 22-0 fourth quarter to take a 69-43 win in classification action and seal Bulgaria's immediate return to Division B in the U16 European Championship Women.
Bulgaria scored the first four points but Belgium responded with an 11-1 run to take control. Sofia Ouahabi's three-pointer swelled the lead to 11 early in the second quarter, but the hosts battled back and Gabriela Nikolova's three-point play cut the deficit to three.
Belgium pushed in the third quarter but five points from Ivona Ilieva late in the quarter kept things close. But a series of turnovers and missed shots in the final period ruined their hopes of salvaging a place in Division A for 2014.
Gabriela Nikolova's eight points and six rebounds led Bulgaria, but Ouahabi had a game-high 17 points and Serena-Lynn Geldof commanded the paint, ending with a near triple-double of 11 points, 10 blocks and eight rebounds.
Laura Henket added 12 points and six rebounds for Belgium, who will face the Netherlands or Lithuania on Sunday in the classification game for 13th place, with the loser of that game joining Bulgaria in 2014's Division B.
