CZECH REPUBLIC VS HUNGARY
The Czech defeated hosts Hungary, 60-54, to make it to the U16 European Championship Women Classification Game for 5th place.
A big crowd attended the game at University Sports Hall and saw a balanced game between two teams who still dreamt of a good finish in the tournament.
The Hungarian were leading during large periods in the first half, but had problems to stay in front during the second half, when the Czechs showed enough power to land a surprise win.
With Agnes Dobos not at her best, it was Bernardett Horvath who shined for the hosts, scoring 17 points, while Debora Dubei contributed 15 points and seven rebounds.
The Czech team found a lot of options to score, with Hana Vesela and Gabriela Andelova being the team's top scorers with 12 points each.
Klara Krivankova almost had a double-double for the Czech side, scoring nine points and grabbing nine rebounds.
FRANCE VS SLOVAK REPUBLIC
The Slovak game followed the same pattern as in previous matches, as the team dominated in the first two quarters, but losing the game to France in the second half, 79-53.
After a brilliant start to the game, the Slovakians lacked stamina to cope with a stronger French team, who kept finding their options, going on a 19-0 run in the third quarter to seal the win.
Marie Milapie led France with 14 points, while Katia Clanet and Louise Dambach had 12 points each, underlining the French ambitions to finish the tournament in fifth place.
For the Slovak Republic, Lucia Striesova topped all scorers with 17 points.
On Sunday France will face the Czech Republic in the game for fifth place, while the match between the Slovak Republic and Hungary will decide who finishes seventh.
